At the interface between industry's needs and the priorities of the Japanese and European Authorities, the EU-Japan Centre organises debates, informs about the latest industrial and economic policies, presents feedback to policy makers and compares experiences and latest information with a view to sharing best practices and identifying areas of future dialogue and cooperation.

SEMINARS – WEBINARS - WORKSHOPS

The Centre's seminars and workshops both in Europe and Japan cover a range of issues, including:

  • Climate Change, Environment & Energy (emissions trading, carbon capture and storage, renewable energy, environmental goods, REACH, Green ICT, CO2 reduction in transport etc)
  • Trade & Investment (valuable and latest know-how about different industrial sectors in the EU and Japan.)
  • Industrial Policy (policies about SMEs, innovation, competition, CSR, food safety, converging ICT-standards, IPR issues etc).
  • Shaping Business (The "Shaping business - investigating issues affecting EU and Japanese industry" recorded lectures/webinars are aimed primarily at young professionals - the next generation of managers - and tackle some of the issues and themes affecting and shaping business now and in the future.)

INDUSTRY & POLICY NEWSLETTER

The EU-Japan Centre in Tokyo publishes "Industry and Policy News" taking information from various Japanese language sources of potential interest, including newly released policy documents, surveys, and official statements, in the context of EU-Japan industrial cooperation. Upon request, the EU-Japan Centre can search and provide further detailed information on a topic of particular interest to our readers. EU-JAPAN BUSINESS ROUND TABLE

The EU-Japan Centre coordinates the activities of the EU-Japan Business Round Table and its 4 working parties that deal with specific issues of common interest to both regions' industries and Authorities.

MINERVA - MARKET & POLICY INTELLIGENCE

The EU-Japan Centre runs the MINERVA programme: during 6 months, experts selected by the Centre are awarded a grant worth 2500 EUR/month to undertake research work on a selected priority topic of the Centre.

EU-JAPAN COOPERATION: ALIGNMENT BETWEEN CLIMATE, TRADE & INDUSTRY

Since September 2020, in close cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, the Centre coordinates the organisation of a series of events and activities aiming at strengthening the cooperation between Europe and Japan for climate action, covering topics such as the links between trade, industry and climate, the acceleration of renewable energy deployment and the role of local governments in low-carbon transition.
